Gilbert
President
Sarah Gilbert is a workplace learning professional in instructional design, facilitation, and implementation. She specializes in custom mobile and elearning development, creating unique learning experiences that improve retention, influence behavior, and impact productivity. Her company, meLearning Solutions, has been featured by Adobe®. <br><br> Sarah has over 12 years of experience in training and development, project management, and call center consulting. She has a BSBM, MBA, and was published in ASTD’s The Book of Road-Tested Activities by Elaine Biech for her innovative technical training concepts. Sarah regularly contributes to various conferences as a session speaker. She loves to read, travel, run, bike, and hike.
Doug
Samuels
President Elect
Doug Samuels is Manager, Organizational Development and Consulting Services at Georgia State University (GSU). He is responsible for the university’s employee development programs including GSU’s supervisor/manager/leadership programs. He also contributes to delivering organization development consulting services across the university. His passion is around ensuring that GSU’s vision, mission, and strategic plan are well-understood and embraced by all GSU employees. He speaks regularly to the employee base about these important aspects of the university. <br><br> He has been a member of ASTD Atlanta and ASTD National for many years. For the past seven years, he have been and continues to be an active chapter leader (three years as Chair, Organization Development SIG - now Human Capital/Workforce Development SIG; Vice President, SIGs/GIGs (2012); Vice President, Programming (2013-14); and President-Elect (2015). His chapter work has introduced him to lifelong friends, excellent professional associations, and much fun. He plans to continue supporting the chapter for many years to come. <br><br> Doug’s professional career in learning and development has taken him around the world. After flying KC-135s (Boeing 707) for many years visiting Asia, Europe, and Australia, he served as a Master Instructor at the USAF’s Undergraduate Navigator Training School in Sacramento, CA. He later led a team that created and delivered the military’s first Ada software engineering training program at the world’s largest military training center. He was selected to direct the Department of Defense’s (DOD) Ada Software Engineering Education and Training Program, created to ensure the Ada programming language was used in all mission-critical software across the military. He received the DOD Meritorious Service Medal for his efforts. <br><br> More recently, as Director, Training and Development in a Fortune 50 company, he traveled the US, Europe and South America ensuring employees received training on its new enterprise resource planning software system. As Director, Organization Development in a burgeoning Fortune 1000 company, he created and delivered a leadership development program that significantly improved the performance of the organization’s leadership team. A lifelong learner, he holds a BS, Mathematics from Valdosta State College, a BS, Computer Science from Chapman University, an MEd, Adult Education from the University of Southern Mississippi, and a BA, Psychology and MS, Industrial/Organizational Psychology from Valdosta State University. He plans to complete his doctorate within the next several years. <br><br> In his spare time, Doug enjoys reading professional books, traveling and spending time with his best friend, Candace, with whom he shares his life…oh, and his cat Louie.

Brian
Womack
VP, Programming
Brian Womack is currently an Organizational Development Specialist at WellStar Health System where he develops leadership and organizational development strategies in support of the organizations strategic priorities and goals. He specializes in organizational learning and strategy, leadership development, team development, and overall people development. Over his 15 year career in workplace learning, Brian has contributed to several successful domestic and international organizational initiatives that boasted measurable results. Brian joined WellStar Health System in 2014 bringing with him over 14 years of leadership and organizational development expertise in various industries ranging from finance, government, and most recently, manufacturing. <br><br> He most recently completed his Master’s in Business Administration from the University of Phoenix in the summer of 2011. Prior to that, Brian graduated from Tusculum College, Greeneville, TN with a major in History and minor in Political Science. Brian holds several professional certifications in leadership skills and assessments as follows: Situational Leadership II (Ken Blanchard Model), 7 Habits of Highly Effective People and Speed of Trust (Franklin Covey), Strengths Deployment Inventory (Personal Strengths), Myers Briggs Type Indicator MBTI (CPP), Everything DiSC (IMPACT Learning and Development), Fierce Conversations (Fierce, Inc.), ASTD Master Trainer designation (American Society of Training and Development), Certified Project Manager (PMI), Certified Manager (Institute of Certified Professional Managers, James Madison University College of Business). <br><br> Brian loves to spend time with his partner and family, work out at the gym, and volunteers in the local Atlanta Schools System.

Matthews
VP, Member Services
Shelia Matthews is a self-professed nerd who enjoys learning new things, scary movies, and her Boxer, Vinny. She works as a Training Development Supervisor with UPS and actively volunteers for several organizations such as United Way, Habitat for Humanity, FairTax.org, and Greater Atlanta ASTD. Some of her recent projects include creating a cultural on-boarding training program for non-domestic call center locations and a mini-video series about e-commerce in the U.S. <br><br> Shelia has a B.S. in Psychology and an MBA, which she vows to use one day. She loves to explore and has spent time in several countries around the world. Whenever Shelia is in her car, she is usually singing along with the radio or arguing with her GPS. If you’re thinking about getting more involved with the Chapter, then Shelia is the person to talk to!

Lusk
VP, Communications and Marketing
David Lusk brings 20 years of business development, sales training, coaching and consulting experience. His passion is to help individuals within organization apply what they know to better perform in the roles they aspire to play. <br><br> David co-founded Vantage Point Performance LLC, a boutique sales training company, and assembled much of the organizations intellectual property. <br><br> David developed his sales talents in the banking industry (5 years); IT (6 years), and professional services (7 years). He has held various titles in his tenure including Director of Training, VP of Sales and Marketing, and Managing Director, Director of Sales Enablement. He has lead international teams of 5 to30. <br><br> David draws his creative and analytical abilities from a BA in Comparative Literature from the University of the South and a bevy of specialty certifications from Huthwaite, Huthwaite International, DDI, Comaq (HP), Microsoft. He has studied at Universite du Paris, L’Ecole Cantonale a Portunterry and the Cordon Blue. <br><br> When not with a client, David can be found reading, on the soccer pitch, remodeling his house, or carpooling his three active boys from event to event to event. He takes pride in discovering new bands, traveling to ordinary places to discover the extraordinary and volunteering with AFS, HopeQuest Ministries, and his local church.

David Adelman is a Relationship Manager with TrainingPros, serving clients in the Southeast region, especially the greater Atlanta and Florida markets, with his unique blend of learning and development expertise. David has a strong background in the hospitality, healthcare/pharmaceutical, and insurance industries. He has honed the skills that make him a seasoned learning and development professional and leader including training vision & strategy, corporate initiatives, training organization development, and curriculum development. He is also a talented instructional designer, facilitator, eLearning designer, and project manager. <br><br> Prior to joining TrainingPros, David worked for The Walt Disney Company; Merck; AmerisourceBergen Solutions Group; International BioResources, LLC; and Assurant Specialty Property. He is an active member of the American Society for Training & Development and serves the Atlanta chapter as the VP of Community Relations. <br><br> David is also an award winning homebrewer and certified beer judge. Through RentABrewer.com he provides homebrewing lessons, parties, and team building sessions. <br><br> David’s passion in life is helping others succeed.

Stephanie Smith is an Instructional Designer with UPS. Prior to entering the world of instructional design, Stephanie worked as an Employee Benefits Account Manager at Ascension Insurance as well as a high school math teacher at Jackson County Comprehensive High School.<br><br> Stephanie has a B.S. in Mathematics, a B.S. Ed. in Mathematics Education and a M.Ed. in Learning, Design & Technology from the University of Georgia. Stephanie has been a member of ATD for three years and previously volunteered as the Director of Technology.
