President's Message

Welcome to the Greater Atlanta Chapter of the Association for Talent Development (ATD). We are excited to invite you to join us in 2015 for the best year yet! There are many benefits to being a member of this award-winning chapter. We are committed to helping our members:

  1. Begin a new career (on-the-job training)

  2. Learn new skills (continuing education)

  3. Promote to a new role (career development)

Whether you are new to the chapter or a long-time member, we know that you will find the organization's switch to "talent development" more than just a name change. Our executive board has taken a holistic approach to ensure we are providing programming with some of the best, most ground-breaking talent in our industry. We are also focused on providing you with opportunities to volunteer, to demonstrate and be recognized for your skills and talent.

At each event, you will have time to meet your peers, because we know that building a personal learning network (PLN) is instrumental as part of your career success. Learn what others in the field are doing, and broaden your exposure to possibilities that may directly influence your own projects.

If you are a service provider, our network includes some of Atlanta’s most senior learning leaders. Aside from the opportunity to build strong professional relationships at our chapter meetings, we feature career resources like the job line, and events such as workshops, special interest groups (SIGs), and geographic interest groups (GIGs) to provide you with the skills, knowledge and resources you need to deliver value in your organization. We even maintain a provider directory to some of the industry's best service providers.

Facts about Greater Atlanta ATD (formerly ASTD):
  • Established in 1955, the Greater Atlanta Chapter of ATD is the largest ATD Chapter in the country and recognized as a thought leader with multiple awards
  • We have over 50 events each year where members can connect, learn and become involved.
  • We partner with local well known non-profit organizations such as Atlanta Habitat for Humanity, Goodwill and the Atlanta Community food bank so our members can give back to the community.
If you are already a member, we encourage you to get involved so you can make the most of your membership. If you are not a member, please consider joining today. If you are a business looking for a way to be noticed by the largest association of workplace learning professionals in Georgia, please take a look at our sponsorship opportunities.

I am honored to be serving with an amazing team of volunteers this year. We look forward to making this a "year of change" for the chapter and our members!

Sarah C. Gilbert, President
